Rare 1930s NRA Label Royal Blue Silk Velvet Bias Cut Gown and Matching Skull Cap
Regular price $ 658.00 Save $ -658.00In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced Americans to the National Recovery Agency as part of his First New Deal. The NRA was designed to bring industry, labor and government together to establish codes for fair practices and set prices. It also established a set minimum wage and maximum weekly hours laborers could work.
The NRA was very popular with workers. Business who supported the NRA would post its iconic blue eagle symbol in their shop windows and on their packages. Blue Eagle NRA labels also were sewn into clothing produced at the time.
In 1935, the U. Supreme Court declared the NRA unconstitutional, ruling that it infringed upon the separation of powers under the U. Constitution and all NRA operations ceased.
Today, items with the NRA label (only used between 1933 and 1935) have become highly sought after.
This OUTSTANDING dress looks very similar to some of the gowns worn on screen in the 1930s by Hollywood greats such as Ginger Rogers, Norma Shearer and Joan Crawford.
Fashioned in the softest slinkiest royal blue silk velvet, this dress is cut at a bias and is sure to hug your curves in all the right places. This dress features a boat neckline with gorgeous bishop sleeves that button down the side of the arm/wrist. The back has a large covered buttons that buttons at the neck and leaves a keyhole slit. There is a snap opening at the left side. There is a slight train at the hem of the dress that really elongates the legs. This dress comes with the original belt.
Perhaps what is most special about this dress is its matching silk velvet skull cap. The cap is gathered around the edges and is completely lined. There is also an NRA label attached to the interior of the hat.

Amazing Vintage Late 1930s/Early 1940s Novelty Tropical Print Feedsack Cotton Peplum Blouse
Regular price $ 178.00 Save $ -178.00This easily may be the BEST feedsack blouse we have ever seen!
Fashioned out of an authentic cotton feed sack, the fabric has more of a stiff hand (since it's made of an industrial purposed cotton) and not a soft broken in feel. Blouse is collarless with a very structural peplum and interesting asymmetrical button details.
Blouse fastens up the front with two buttons and a snap.
Pairs well with jean, slacks or a skirt.

Blouse has a small 3/4" rust colored stain under the bottom button as well as a 1/2" dark stain on the left peplum. There is the faintest yellowing under the arms. Fortunately, the pattern is so busy these flaws are barely noticeable. There is a stitch line near the left armhole where the original maker made a mistake when making the piece, but given the nature of feed sack they are still visible. None of these flaws detract from the amazingness of this piece. Priced accordingly.

This beautiful dress is wearable with care. Fabric feels dry. There are numerous small pin holes, tiny runs and faint discoloration throughout. There also are a few weak seams and part of the rolled hem is missing. The underarms are in tack but slightly discolored. The metal side snaps originally went all the way up to the underarm, but have been stitched up. Snaps are still there and could be untacked to use as intended. None of these flaws are overly noticeable. Priced accordingly.

Dress is in sturdy, wearable condition, but does have a few flaws. It has a few small holes on the front close to the zipper (See photos) and a number of small weak spots throughout the fabric. There are a couple of small stains on the front near the hem. There also is wear around the neckline and on the hem under the zipper. Still a great dress with lots of life left! Priced accordingly.

Overall the dress is in wonderful, sturdy, wearable shape. It does have a few cosmetic flaws including a small 1/2 inch stain near the waist on the front and 3 pinpoint black stains near the bottom back of the skirt (See last photo). The skirt ruffle in the front looks like it may have been splashed by a puddle. It has faint dark watermarks around the bottom. All of these flaws would require close-up inspection to be noticed. None of these flaws detract. Priced accordingly.
