Look like you just stepped out of the pages of La Vie Parisienne in this spectacular 1920s metallic sheath dress! While there is no maker's label in this garment, its exquisite design, construction and use of lavish fabrics definitely show signs of a couture piece.
Constructed in a metallic silk lamé in a jaw-dropping shade of slate blue with gold swirls. The lamé is in excellent condition with no tears or holes. The straps are made of a nude illusion mesh and adorned with hundreds of set rhinestones. All rhinestones are original and present.
The side of the gown is fashioned with a sash of luxurious silk velvet and accented with a large black silk velvet and silver bullion wired flower. Black velvet leaves, bullion-wrapped berries and a long twisting wire-wrapped vine cascade down the side of the gown. The center of the flower is adorned with beautiful crystal rhinestones.
The gown is lined in a darling light pink silk and has a built in interior girdle belt to help keep the dress in place during wear. Over a dozen well-concealed hook-and-eye closures make the dress easy to put on and remove and help guarantee a perfect fit.
This gown is incredibly rare! It would be a wonderful piece for a collector or possibly a museum.
Condition: Good - Very Good
There is some underarm staining and discoloration as well as 2 very small stains on the bodice. The silk velvet sash has staining and a few holes - the largest being about 1/2 inch. The sash lining also is starting to come undone at hem. Sash damage is not noticeable given the drape of the piece.
